Matters of the Heart
"The heart has reasons which reasons do not know."
I love this quote so much because it relates to the story of Jay Gatsby in so many ways. Gatsby was crazy obsessed with Daisy for reasons we all do not know, only that he would do anything, even give up his life. Gatsby was not the only one with love that we didn't understand. Daisy could not decide who she loved more: Tom or Jay. We never really saw her true love for Jay or Tom and I thought it was very confusing throughout the entire book. Myrtle was probably the only one who's love was crazy but we knew why she loved Tom. She wanted a higher life style and believed that a woman of her stature didn't belong in a place like The Valley of Ashes.
"The heart has reasons which reasons do not know."
We did not understand Jay's love nor Daisy's. Daisy was Jay's one that got away. All we can conclude is that Jay and Daisy's love was one of a kind. "And he looked at her like how every girl wants to be looked at."
I took journal #24 and tried to explain this quote with the love story of Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchannan.
